ICLEI Canada will be hosting a one day Climate Change Symposium in Windsor, Ontario on April 10, 2019. The Symposium will cover a variety of topics related to creating implementation-ready climate adaptation plans. Learning from diverse speakers and interactive workshops and sessions, attendees will be provided with a suite of innovative tools and strategies that communities can use to successfully implement climate actions.

As the Symposium's focus is on community-level adaptation actions, we warmly welcome the participation of local governments, federal/provincial government, NGO's, health sector, conservation authorities, community service providers, and private sector agencies from across Canada.

Not only a hub for knowledge sharing and networking on local resilience, this event also represents a milestone of the Adaptation Changemakers project delivered by ICLEI and funded through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Climate Adaptation Partner Grants available through FCMsMunicipalities for Climate Innovation Program (MCIP). MCIP, delivered by FCM and funded by the Government of Canada, is a five-year, $75-million program designed to support and encourage municipalities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. The Adaptation Changemakers Project has brought together 8 communities from across the country to develop locally relevant climate change adaptation strategies. Join us in Windsor to network with these participating communities and learn from them about their adaptation achievements thus far.

Program

The one-day Symposium will consist of two morning sessions and two interactive afternoon sessions/workshops covering topics related todesign, selection, and implementation of community adaptation actions. The morning sessions will provide participants with a deep dive into subject matter led by experts in climate change adaptation. In the afternoon, collaborative sessions will provide an opportunity to work hands-on with tools that can help you ensure the longevity of your adaptation actions, secure necessary resources, and communicate about your community's successes.
