The Mornington Peninsula, southeast of Melbourne, is renowned for its coastal beauty, wineries, and biodiversity. It is highly vulnerable to drought, storms, and sea-level rise. The Shire’s long-term plan, Our Coast, Our Future, manages coastal hazard impacts. By 2023, the Council had planted 850 mangroves to protect Hastings foreshore landfill and buffer Western Port Bay.
