Lautoka City Council is a municipal organisation located on the western side of Viti Levu, Fiji. Known as the “Sugar City” for its surrounding sugar cane belt, Lautoka is also home to diverse industries, including timber milling and fishing. As the site of Fiji’s second-largest port, it is a progressive hub for trade and industry. Beyond its industrial role, Lautoka is committed to environmental stewardship and cleanliness. The Council launched a Free Environment Clean-Up Campaign, encouraging its 71,573 residents (2017 data) to participate in sustainability initiatives and follow responsible waste management practices. In 2025, the Council hosted a Voluntary Local Review stakeholders workshop, bringing together government representatives, international partners, and business stakeholders to integrate the SDGs into local governance and planning.
