The City of Unley, located in a leafy suburban area of Adelaide, is home to approximately 40,000 people. The Council strongly focuses on engaging its community as active partners in sustainability and climate resilience. Initiatives such as the Greening Verges Program and the Community Renewables Program empower residents to green their neighbourhoods, adopt renewable energy, and contribute to sustainability. The Council also leads waste reduction through its Waste Program, encouraging households, multi-unit dwellings, businesses, and schools to reduce food waste and single-use plastics. As a member of ICLEI’s Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), Unley aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its corporate emissions by 2030.
