Adelaide Hills Council

Located in the hills east of Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills region has a population of 42,368 (2024 data) as diverse as its landscape. With a rapidly growing economy, the Council is committed to advancing environmental sustainability initiatives. It promotes efficient resource use, waste reduction, resource recovery, and the consumption of locally sourced food. Adelaide Hills Council was the second council in South Australia—and the 13th in Australia—to declare a Climate Emergency. Guided by this commitment, the Council collaborates with community groups to embed sustainable practices in daily life and works to reduce its ecological footprint.
