ICLEI Oceania delivering local value with forthcoming Pacific office opening

With the imminent opening of a new sub-regional ICLEI office in the Pacific region, 2025 will mark the culmination of a significant milestone in the consolidation of ICLEI as the leading global network of local governments advocating for, and tackling, sustainability issues across the globe.

ICLEI’s newly elevated Pacific presence, located in Suva, Fiji will cover current projects already being delivered in the region, such as the Global Covenant of Mayors regional program office and our work on Blue Green Development in Kiribati.

An extensive program of new business development is already underway in the region, leveraging the expertise of local stakeholders and in partnership with the University of the South Pacific, Community Centred Conservation and IFRC Fiji, among others. ICLEI’s city and regional partners in Suva, Nadi, Labasa, Lautoka (Fiji), Honiara in the Solomons Islands, Ville de Punaauia (French Polynesia) and all the key local government levels in Kiribati have warmly welcomed the investment by ICLEI in the Pacific, and are committed to work with our team to build this office and its project portfolios to address the most pressing sustainable development challenges these island nations are facing.
