New Zealand celebrates a year of innovation with Horizon Europe collaboration
In a national first, a project leveraging data innovation and technology involving a consortium of universities, research bodies and the Wellington City Council is underway. The project will build capacity to integrate climate, disaster and resilience indicators into city planning. The three year €5.3M “Mitigating environmental disruptive events using people-centric predictive digital technologies to improve disaster and climate resilience” is a prime example of how cities and research partners can work together to import innovation and draw upon world-best thinking in the field of climate adaptation.
ICLEI has a rich history of leading and supporting Horizon-funded projects in Europe and beyond and has the capacity to work with New Zealand-based sustainability and Council practitioners on understanding the requirements to prepare a successful Horizon fund.
