The Nature Pathway

All CitiesWithNature program participants will have access to the Nature Pathway which will guide them on a journey of exploration and inspiration, where cities can show their commitments and ambitions towards incorporating nature’s benefits and nature-based solutions into city policy, planning and decision-making processes.


The Nature Pathway is based on an ICLEI methodology with three main phases: Analyze, Act and Accelerate. Each of these phases is divided into steps and each step is accompanied by a rich collection of information, guidance, tools, ideas and examples to assist local governments with their commitments to nature.

Use the Action Platform to accelerate your local government’s commitments to the global goals for nature. Then share your achievements with the world.

Join CitiesWithNature

Any local or subnational government can join our CitiesWithNature program. By joining you will be connecting with a global group of cities and regions who are committed to working with nature and incorporating nature based solutions into their city planning, building, and management.

Once you join you will be guided through the registration process and invited to share your local government’s policies, plans, commitments, actions and achievements which utilize nature based solutions.
