Australian Local Government Climate Review Survey 2024

ICLEI Oceania has collaborated with Ironbark Sustainability, Better Futures Australia, Climate Emergency Australia and a number of local government associations and greenhouse alliances to produce an updated version of the Australian Local Government Climate Review survey.

The survey is run every three years and the results will be used to develop the 2024 Australian Local Government Climate Review, as well as build on the input from the 2018 and 2021 surveys. It will provide a solid evidence-base and comprehensive analysis of climate change actions, barriers and opportunities facing councils and communities throughout Australia. This data is also a crucial component of the GCoM helpdesk function and informs ICLEI's advocacy work.

The 2024 Australian Local Government Climate Review will be launched at the Better Futures Forum in September and will showcase the commitments and ambitions of the local government sector. It will share recommendations to improve multi-level governance, resourcing and opportunities.

ICLEI Oceania encourages its members and broader Council network to complete the survey to ensure the results accurately reflect the climate targets, strategies, actions and impacts councils are currently grappling with. The survey closes on 10th May 2024, so complete it ASAP to ensure your voice is heard when the final report is developed and shared.
